Superintendents’ Pressure to Act

By: Caroline Wynne Date: February 24, 2015

Today’s superintendents face unprecedented pressure to demonstrate year over year student achievement. These pressures include transparency of district, educator, and student performance. In addition, there is increased accountability with regards to more rigorous assessments and standards, along with grants and federal/local policy compliance. On top of that, the complexity of rigorous and more frequent evaluations and the constantly changing requirements can be a challenge to manage.

Pressure to Act

A superintendent of a small district can face even more challenges, such as facility and human resource related issues, as outlined in a recent article on the 2015 National Conference on Education (NCE) Conference Blog.

Acknowledging these pressures is one thing, but addressing them is another matter. Success criteria is obvious – overall student achievement – but achieving these results can be very difficult. By focusing on the biggest in-school factor that impacts student success – educators – superintendents can reduce some of these outside pressures and be proud of their school district’s performance.

Is there a bright light at the end of the tunnel? We’d like to think so. Based on 15 years of experience with leading school districts across the country, Truenorthlogic helps superintendents leverage technology to enhance teacher effectiveness through professional development. The Truenorthlogic K-12 Talent Management System provides solutions to streamline organizational processes focused on educator professional growth. Check out some school district and state examples of bringing educator effectiveness programs to life.

This week Truenorthlogic will be exhibiting at the American Association of School Administrators (AASA) National Conference on Education. This conference offers a unique opportunity for superintendents from across the country to come together to share educator effectiveness best practices, consider new technology solutions, and learn about new strategies to help minimize these pressures.
